Kate Dean-Haidet PhD, RN,PCM-CNS and I delivered programs for professional caregivers at the Ohio Health Hospice organization this spring and summer. “Interventions for Pain and Anxiety at the End of Life: Enhancing Skills for Comfort Care” October 4 – November, 2017. This program continues to be well received and we expect to continue to offer it next year. The Comfort Care skills taught are enhanced by also introducing the techniques for self-care and resilience skills to the caregiver staff.

Contemplative Strategies for Nurse Educators
Thursday, June 16, 2016; 1:30pm-3:30pm Columbus Whetstone Library ; 3909 N High St, Columbus, OH 43214Developing the therapeutic capacity required of compassionate caregiving and holistic healing interventions requires contemplative educational strategies grounded in self care.
The purpose of these programs is to :
- nurture a community of nurses and nurse educators who practice mindfulness based / contemplative self-care practices for their personal wellbeing and
- Support implementation of mindfulness based / contemplative educational practices in academic curricula and staff development programs.
Each workshop follows a similar structure approximately 10 minutes of content/ research review; 20 minutes of self-care practice/ exercise(s) and 45 minutes for discussion and dialogue about your self-care progress. Resource handouts will be provided. For first time attendees, please review the following presentation on your own prior to the event.
